Above the Law Writing Contest
To ensure Above the Law has a pipeline of the best writing talent and a publication with a variety of opinions and perspectives, ATL will launch its inaugural writing contest. We are particularly looking for underrepresented voices -- people of color, LGBTQ+, women -- who want to publish across a broad range of topics. We will be providing editorial support and a platform for distribution, and most importantly, prize money.
Process and Timeline:
- Submit your name, email, and article topic. Limit the article topic to 250 words. Deadline December 19, 2018.
- ATL editors will review all submissions, and choose finalists to write an article for publication on Above the Law. Finalists will be selected and notified by January 16, 2019.
- Finalists will submit their article for publication by February 21, 2019.
- Articles will be published between March 1 - March 31, 2019.
- Winner will be chosen by ATL Editors, reader feedback, and web engagement (pageviews, unique visitors, social interactions, time on page).
Payments and Prize Money:
- All finalists will receive the standard Above the Law columnist fee of $40 per article.
- The winner will receive bragging rights, a columnist position at Above the Law, and a $1,000 prize.
